Built by Operators. Driven by Data.
The infrastructure we sought for our own ventures, now engineered for yours—quietly enhanced by custom AI.
Founded in 2018, Sovel Group was born out of a first-hand realization. Following a successful first exit, our founders identified a critical gap in the market.
While there were plenty of traditional wealth managers and CPAs, there were very few partners who understood the operational weight of a high-net-worth family or a growing business.
The back office was often a source of friction rather than a source of clarity. We saw the need for a “Practitioner-Led” approach—applying the same rigor, modern tech-stacks, and operational expertise used to scale companies to the management of personal and family wealth.
The Mission: Applied Operational Intelligence
We don’t just “do the books”; we design the engine. By integrating sophisticated financial systems with a disciplined operational cadence, we provide the quiet infrastructure that allows you to move from the role of Operator to the role of Visionary.
This infrastructure is now augmented by custom AI solutions. We move beyond static reporting to provide depth in investment analysis and predictive modeling. By synthesizing raw data into actionable foresight, we don’t just show you where you’ve been—we forecast exactly where you need to be to meet your return goals.
The Team
Scott Wehner is a systems architect and the founder of Sovel Group, an Austin-based firm providing sophisticated financial infrastructure for high-net-worth families and founders. In 2009, he co-founded Fusion Medical Staffing, serving as COO and engineering the operational and financial frameworks that scaled the organization into a national industry leader. Following a successful exit in 2018, Scott founded Sovel Group to bridge the gap between traditional back-office support and predictive financial intelligence.
Today, Scott applies his “in-the-trenches” operational history to solve the complexities of private capital. By integrating practitioner-led rigor with custom AI-driven analysis and deep investment modeling, he transforms raw financial data into a forward-looking roadmap. His focus is on creating the quiet infrastructure and “well-oiled machines” that allow visionaries to move from the role of operator to a state of total financial agency.
Scott and his wife, Jennifer, are active in a variety of philanthropic and community pursuits. Dedicated to the idea that capital is a catalyst for a life well-lived, they focus their efforts on initiatives that foster long-term stability and growth within the Austin community.
Scott, Jennifer, and their four children live in Austin, TX.

FAQs
We specialize in supporting small-to-medium-sized single-family offices and high-net-worth individuals who have outgrown basic bookkeeping but don’t require a 20-person internal ops team. Our typical clients manage complex estates—often involving multiple entities, private equity holdings, and cross-border assets—where “good enough” reporting is no longer sufficient.
We understand that every family office is at a different stage of maturity. While we offer a comprehensive “back office in a box,” our services are modular. Whether you only need help with concierge bill pay or specifically require institutional-grade performance reporting and GL management, we tune the depth of our support to fill the specific gaps in your current operation.
No. We are a practitioner-led firm, and your data is managed by our dedicated internal team. While we utilize global infrastructure like AWS to keep your data secure, the “eyes” on your books belong to our experts. We believe the back office of a family office is too sensitive for generic third-party outsourcing; you deserve a consistent team that understands your family’s unique financial footprint.
We view AI as both an operational engine and a strategic asset. Operationally, we use it as a “quiet enhancer” for our practitioners—powering automated variance and anomaly detection to ensure your books stay audit-ready with superhuman precision.
Beyond our internal operations, we maintain a dedicated network of AI engineers and architects. This allows us to consult on and build custom implementations for specific client needs—whether that involves auditing the tech stack of a potential investment or building proprietary programs to streamline unique office workflows. Our approach ensures you have the speed of modern technology backed by the nuanced judgment of human experts
We act as the proactive bridge between your daily operations and your tax strategy. While we do not file tax returns, we ensure your CPA receives a “clean” set of books, eliminating the traditional tax-season scramble. Furthermore, for complex transactions or structural shifts, we maintain a network of high-level tax professionals whom we bring in to consult on potential liabilities and advanced tax strategies. This ensures that your long-term planning is always informed by accurate, real-time operational data.
Think your office might be a good fit?
Practitioner-run and tool-assisted, we plug in as your back office, cleaning inputs, tightening process, and delivering reporting your family can trust. If we can’t move the needle, we’ll say so. When it’s a fit, your workload shrinks, visibility expans, and decisions get easier every month.
